F1 Sepang Open Practice 28/3/2007

For third time in my entire lifetime, went to see F1 practice session. The first one I went to was at Silverstone, UK, second during the first Malaysian GP. As I arrive at the circuit, a loud bashee-like scream fills the air enough to immediately give me an adrenaline rush as I got out of my car at the parking lot. I arrived there around 11 something, drove from MMU right after Management class finished at 10.
This was my first-time shooting F1. For the first 45 minutes I don't know what I was shooting. I only managed to fire blank shots at first. Wasting my shots away on empty asphalt, bit of the front or back of the race car and plentiful of shaky blurred shots. After playing around with the exposures for a while I started working from 1/3000 to 1/750,1/500 and 1/350 with panning.
Tried impying motion using ND8 filter. Got some nice motion shots but unfortunately I accidently deleted them as I was freeing up my CF after it was full. Had to call it a day at 3pm since my CF was already full.
I had loads of fun today. Sight, sound, smell...it was all good...

Gambar budak ni aku ambik dlm 3-4 snaps...sbb aku suka tgk "thought process" yg jelas kelihatan kat muka dia time dia melukis...Ayah dia ajak dia balik, dia terus mencebik bibir then lowers his head and continues to draw persistently...

I found that nak snap gambar budak-budak ni kena stealth sikit sbb the instant they saw you point your camera at them, their personality change...

Mmg takde experience shoot motorsports ni...what I had in mind for this shot nak pakai shutter below 1/100 and belajar panning...Pakai ND8 filter sbb image senang overexposed sbb matahari terik sangat...Not quite happy sbb tersalah pakai aperture...so ada jelas nampak DOF kat subject...Any tips pertaining motorsports or action photography mmg sangat dialu-alukan sbb plan nak shoot F1 kat sepang time open practice session nnt...cheers...

I was at KLCC today, pegi Kinokuniya...forgot when was the last time I went to KLCC...my usual hangout place is at Borders BTS...I like the latter better...maybe because of the layout, lighting and the lounge music is a lot better than either MPH or Kinokuniya...I can sit in there for like 2 hours...
There's a promotion by M.A.C...Barbie Loves M.A.C...It looks like a free make-up make-over session for the ladies...
There'll be an exhibition on "PhotoJournalism and Imaging of Modern Malaysia" at Petronas Gallery starting 24 Mac...Dang it! Awal sehari...kalau aku gi KLCC esok leh singgah jap...Maybe next week I'll go and check it out...

Hari ni aku saje try ambik bas pegi ke MMU dari rumah aku kat BBBangi. Saje nak try clock how much time it takes to get from where to where. I'm planning to use public transportation instead of driving to MMU. Ini kira-kira anggaran yg aku dpt:
RM30 petrol utk 2 return trip from BBBangi to Cyberjaya. Kalau naik bas RapidKL and KTM komuter 2 hari dlm RM12...kalau 5 hari RM75 vs RM30...kalau sebulan RM300 vs RM120...kalau setahun...do the math...
dari segi time factor, it takes 30 minutes (17min kalau lari 120 kat highway... n___n) to drive but 2 hours by public transport...but for me, being an introverted intuitive analytic person that i am, the long commute is a great time to do some inward thinking, people-watching, catching some zzzz...and some photograhy too... n___n

Dah lama dah tak gi local event...Kalau boleh tak nak miss la, sbb from these events la the best way untuk belajar photography. Hajatnya nak pegi seawal 0300 tapi terpaksa pegi naik train untuk save duit sikit. Caught the first train from Komuter UKM at 0630. Sampai KL station around 0745 kot. Terus pegi Dataran Merdeka sbb programme event half-way dah berlangsung. Kali ni parameters yg aku tetapkan untuk diri aku ialah untuk shoot menggunakan RAW format sahaja. So the shots are very limited and burst mode is slow. Jadi dapat rasa sikit challenge. n___n; Igt nak try slow sychro flash photography tapi cuma pakai built-in flash je n___n;
Dpt berkenalan dgn En Mohamad, an avid marathon runner and a photography enthusiast from Kajang. Shoot a couple of portraits for him. Met him later at noon to give his pics on CD and got RM5 n___n v
Byk oppurtunity utk shoot, tapi bile habis je space CF, I have to call it a day. Tepat pukul 0930 aku terus balik. Best dpt gi shooting hari ni ~
